We will no longer be a fully vegan café. This decision wasn’t easy, but it’s about survival, inclusivity, and staying true to our values. Vegan options will remain strong, while we open our doors to more people and possibilities.

Over the past month, we have taken a close look at our business and come to a difficult conclusion. We will no longer be a fully vegan café.

As one of the biggest vegan chains in the Nordics, we understand this decision may bring feelings of disappointment or frustration. It was not made lightly. Over the last six months, we have explored many ways to bring more customers into our cafés. We adjusted pricing and returned to fresh, high-quality baking to offer the best possible products.

The truth is, the current economy has made it extremely difficult to continue as a fully vegan concept. This is not just about financial results. It is about the responsibilities we carry as an employer and as a business trying to survive. With lower sales, rent and wages take up a larger share of our income, and we need to operate more efficiently to continue.

We also need to be honest about our core values. Sustainability has always been essential to ROUND and remains so today. But being fully vegan has started to limit our second key value, which is diversity. In a world facing increasing conflict and division, we believe greater flexibility and understanding are needed. Through working with a multicultural team, we have learned that a 100 percent vegan concept can unintentionally narrow our reach and our impact.

To stay true to both values, we believe the best path forward is to create a space where more people feel welcome. This change will allow more guests to make sustainable choices within our cafés, even if they are not fully vegan.

Our vegan selection will still be a major part of who we are. What changes is that we will now offer more variety and more options for more people.

We’re still committed to being one of the most sustainable chains, and we’re not going to start making cheap decisions. We’ll continue to focus on high quality and diversity.
